Freedom and Authority in the Tempest Paper In the Tempest you see a variety of themes set in many different contexts which develop further as the play progresses, many of the themes are based on what would have been current issues around the time the play was written. However the strongest of these themes have to be Freedom, imprisonment and the Authority, which Shakespeare has decided specifically to highlight. This is probably due to the fact that the Tempest was written in the early 17th Century, which is a period in time well known for the very powerful monarchy. It is also during this era that Magicians were very high profile, and people in these times actually believed the magic they witnessed on stage and therefore in this play the audience would have believed the unrealistic elements and spellbinding scenes that take place. Such as Prospero having the ability to create the illusion of a storm to the sailors and having a spiritual slave. The Oxford Dictionary definition of Imprisonment is put into prison, confine. An overview of the play would be that only Ariel was imprisoned in the tree and Ferdinand in a prison, however an in depth look at the play shows that there are many other examples of confinement, be it physically or emotionally. The definition of Freedom is the condition of being free or unrestricted, which we see only at the end of the play when Ariel is set free and Caliban is left alone. Other examples of freedom are of being free of the island and in the Kings case, free of feeling guilty for exiling Prospero, an innocent man. It is in the very first scene where the sailors are being put through the storm where the theme of authority arises for the first time. A complete role reversal occurs and the authority of the king and his men is almost completely taken away by the Boatswain. Good Boatswain, have care. Wheres the master? Play the men. I pray now keep below. Wheres the master boatswain? Do you not hear him? You mar our labour keep your cabins. You do assist the storm. Shakespeare has tried to emphasise that fact that although the king is regarded as the absolute power, when put in this situation he has no real power. Which could also be seen as a criticism of society then, how they just do as they are told, without questioning the king. Similarly in Act 5, Scene 1, where Prospero addresses the king a complete role reversal occurs again. Here the king asks Prospero for forgiveness which a King in these times, or even today would never have done because of the high power they had and because people in those times believed in the Divine Right of Kings. This means that people thought the Monarch was chosen by God to take up his position on earth as the head of England. Thy dukedom I resign, and do entreat thou pardon me my wrongs. Although both Prospero and the King remain powerful, there is one huge difference in their authority. Whereas Prospero gains his power by scaring people through his magic, the kings status is enough to make him as powerful as he is. The theme of imprisonment is one that is highlighted throughout the play and from the very beginning, is the strongest theme. It can be expressed in a variety of ways, such as Prospero and Miranda trapped on the island, or even the actual imprisonment of Ariel in a tree under Sycoraxs control. The sailors being put through the storm can be seen as them being imprisoned on their boat, they are unable to go anywhere and are trapped on the boat. However sleep is not a punishment it is seen as a relief, however the sleep the sailors are being put through could be seen as a punishment to them for forcefully being made to do something. This carries on for the duration of the play, when Ariel says to Propsero, The mariners all under hatches stowed, whom, with charm joined to their suffered labour, Ive left asleep. , It proves the situation the sailors have been left in. You can almost describe the sailors as being confined from the rest of the island by their own sleep. Another element of this imprisonment is the fact that Prospero and Miranda are trapped on the island, they are unable to go anywhere else safely. They were as good as given the death penalty when they were put on a rotten carcass of a butt, not rigged, nor tackle, sail, nor mast. But their arrival on the island cannot be seen as them being given their freedom, as they are restricted to the island, unable to go anywhere, like being given a prison sentence to life on the island. Miranda does not, however see herself as being imprisoned, because that is how she had been brought up and would not have known any difference although in reality she is confined and deprived. The further implications of this confinement to the island are clearly seen later on in Mirandas remarks upon seeing Ferdinand for the first time. It carries a brave form. But tis a spirit A thing divine, for nothing natural I ever saw so noble. , this is not because Ferdinand is so incredibly handsome, but because he is the first man, bar her father than Miranda can ever remember seeing, which means that any other human is going to be beautiful to her. Similarly the implications of this entrapment on the island is visible in Prospero by his ever-growing sense of wanting power. Following his banishment from his Dukedom he is reluctant to let go of Miranda to another man an in turn uses Ferdinand as his slave, showing he is unwilling to have another human being on the island without them under his authority. Or this can be seen as the caring father scared for his confused teenage daughter to get hurt, as he probably well knows what it feels like to be betrayed or cheated by someone close to you, in Prosperos case, Antonio.

The Challenges Of Protecting Personal Information Information Technology Essay The aim of this paper is to review the importance of personal data, also known as sensitive data that are actually used virtually by any organisation in this 21st century. Personal information has become the biggest issue around the world, either processing or protecting it. But, in this article, the focus is on the health care system which is the Electric Health Record system (EHR), it is a system use to record health information electronically. Having the legislation, rules and regulation in place, it is found that this system has failed to provide protection on personal data. As a matter of fact, this system has managed to be exploited by unauthorised people. The EHR system was not fully tested accordingly to meet the end-users requirement, but released to the health service for use. The growth of data loss is increasingly common among the organisations in day to life and challenges in protecting personal data have emerged. It is therefore essential that health care service establ ish a better security policy to protect the personal data. This research paper will explain the security issues need to be enforced in order to protect data from the vulnerabilities. 1. INTRODUCTION One of the most significant current discussions in legal and moral philosophy is the security of data. It has become a central issue for many organisations to achieve a successful information system within defined scope, quality, time and cost constraints in order to protect privacy, confidentiality and security. Researchers like Olvingson et al. (2003) suggest that there have been drastic changes in the provision of health services since the introduction of computers about three decades ago and issues related to the protection of personal health information have resulted in both technical research and political debate.[1] Thus, it can be justified that security of data is still the leading cause of failure in software system development. The main issues addressed in this paper are personal information, data protection and security. It has been divided into four parts. The first one deals with the explanation of personal data, data protection and disclosure of data. The second part is to evaluate the risks and the impact on information system. The third one is to present different approaches to counter these risks. The forth one is to provide a summary of findings that can be use as lessons in the future. The purpose of this paper is to review the latest years of research into these parts and critically evaluate and validate this case study. 1.1 What is personal data? Personal data can be classified into three main categories; these are contact, profile and behavioural information. It contains the detail information of a living person that is unique to each individual. In this scenario, the personal data reveals the information of individuals health such as name, racial origin ,blood group, sex, DNA, contact details, next of kin, illnesses, treatment and General Practitioners detail. Therefore, EHR system functions at its best to record and transmit this information throughout the health service organisations. But, the biggest challenge of this system is to protect the privacy of patients health information. The main question addressed in this paper is how to protect this sensitive data. According to Croll.P.R (2010), he discusses that the effectiveness of Privacy and security measures depend mostly on the policies adopted by the healthcare organisation.[2] It can be argued that research shows that there is inadequate policies enforce by the gover nment and the medical organisation to prevent further harm on personal data. It can just be suggested that future research should determine how to address these issues effectively and generate effective security policies in IS project development 1.2 Data Protection Act is a legislation that has been established since 1984 and replaced in 1998, it is an Act to protect personal data. The principles of this Act are to make sure that data is accurate and correct. Information should be fairly and lawfully processed. Personal data should not be kept longer than necessary and processed for limited purposes. It should be adequate, relevant and up to date. The most important ones are not to reveal personal data in any manner and should be secure. Personal data should be processed in accordance with the data subjects rights. This Data Act also emphasizes on the accessibility of data, that is to say who is allowed to access to the data and under what conditions. Liability is crucial because it is about who is responsible if the data is abused. Haasa S. et al (2010), they argue that even if the providers policy states that data protection regulations and legislation are met, patients cannot control the EHR providers usage of their data. [3] Thus, it can be discussed that EHR system is not a single medical institution anymore and it is run by other enterprises who maintain the electronic records system where they have access to the personal data and able to disclose private information to other third parties. According to this article, the National Health Information Network (NHIN) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) cannot guarantee the security of health records because they are not sure people working within the medical organisation will abide by the rule. 1.3 Disclosure of Data is the revelation of data; it can be either wanted or unwanted disclosure. This means that one can either reveal the personal data to the authorised party or to the third party that could be unauthorised without any conditions. But, this paper focuses on the risks that are associated with the data that is disclosed inappropriately. Researchers have found that the in-house sabotage is the leading cause of sharing information to the third parties. It is the most common risk factor that has been identified by recent studies so far. An example of this potential risk of harvesting personal data for commercial purposes is the CAMM scam in Australia, 2003. It is a company promoting pharmaceutical activities and manages to upload the EHR system where they extract the personal data with some doctors approval. [4] Later, it was found that CAMM did not just use it for the pharmaceutical purposes, but also sold it to many insurance companies and to other organisations that wanted to buy the data. Hence, it can be argued that this can cause significant threats to patients privacy. Concerns have been raised by several bodies about the poor regulatory structures and policies implementing by the government in protecting personal data. The other associated risks are hackers, natural disaster, terrorism and viruses. According to the case study, the fact and figures shows that 99% were the staff that had the opportunity to target the system and 88% of the organisations had lost money between 500 dollars to 10 millions of dollars.[5] The most surprising fact is when staff leaves the organisation, they are the one who become the attackers of the company. Security breaches mostly when there is lack of access control which leads to information technology sabotage. Angus N (2005) argues that if it is for the benefit of the patient, information can be shared within the multidisciplinary team caring for the patient and does not apply to research, teaching or other unqualified members.[6] Thus, it can be justified that information should only be disclosed appropriately and safely to the people required or authorised by the legislation and hence this will improve the security issues. 2. Evaluation of the risks and impact on information systems This part of the discussion is about the evaluation of the risks listed above and the impact on information systems in terms of storage, transport, access management and disclosure are as follows: Storage -The idea of the freedom people working anywhere has in fact increase the ability to carry data on portable hard drives, laptops and USB sticks. Recent report has confirmed that data leakage have become very common among the organisations and has great impact on the relationship to customer due to the loss of laptops and USB. For example the case of the PA consulting who transferred the personal data of 84,000 prisoners in England and Wales to a memory sticks that gone missing. [7] This was a total disaster in terms of money loss and identity frauds. There is increasing concern of shopping on line because of security which is the major perception whether to buy or not to on line. Recent developments in using credit cards have heightened the need for better security policy to protect personal bank details from hackers. Transport -The crucial thing is when electronic data is carrying insecurely in public domain and from one domain to another. That has an inverse impact on infor mation systems such as people will lose confidence in using the system. Economically speaking, the risks to organisations have grown immensely where consumers and businesses suffer from loss of availability, integrity and confidentiality. If any of these is loss either accidentally or deliberately, this will affect the organisations productivity, popularity and much more. According to this case study, the health service system is more networked and that lead to an increase of intrusion and malware. The statistic research shows that health care companies in United States had an average of 13,400 attacks per day at the end of 2009, according to the Secure Works where some of these attacks are hacking credit card and others are automated attacks from malware which infect computers via networks and USB sticks. [8] In UK, late 2009, there were three London Hospitals that were forced to shut down their computer networks due to the infected malware known as Mytob. [9] It can be argued that has an adverse impact on NHS because 4,700 computers were infected and it took about two weeks to eliminate the virus which was cost-effective and data loss.[10] These attacks can also result in wrong diagnosis of patients and even cause death if the patients information have been erased or mislead by the malicious attack. Access Management is about the authentication process which deals with the authorization of user sID and password to have access to the data. Concerns have been raised by several bodies about the poor password management. This means that passwordword is not changed regularly and has the same default fixed password which in turn makes the system vulnerable to most attacks. In fact, this scenario states that the user do not need to have administrator access to do serious damage to the health records. McSherry (2004) suggests that with the growing effectiveness of data retrieval engines and data mining techniques, personal data has become vulnerable to unauthorised people. [11] It can be argued that data kept electronically makes it easier to exploit by data thieves and other intruders. Disclosure this explains to whom information should be disclosed to, that is to say who is liable to receive this information and on what conditions. The employees have a key role to play regarding this because whether they are liable under the Data Protection Act, company rules and regulation or not. But in most cases as mentioned above, it is found that mostly the staff that breaches the contract while dealing with personal information. 3. Controls and countermeasures Presentation of different approaches will be discussed in this part of the paper to counter these risks listed above. Recent developments in the field of security issues have led to a renewed interest in encryption. Encryption is the process of converting information into codes. It is in the form of computer programs software used to secure data. That is to say, a sender enters his / her personal data, it is first get encrypted and then decrypted before it reach to the receiver. The Three Houses in The Great Gatsby      Ã‚  Ã‚   The houses of the three main characters in The Great Gatsby represent different characteristics of their dwellers.   Gatsby is a flashy and superficial man with a one track mind.   He lives next to Nick who is simple and observant.   Nick's half cousin is Daisy, who lives across the water from Nick and Gatsby.   She is superficial and cynical.      Ã‚  Ã‚   Daisy's house is a fairly large and elaborate Georgian Colonial mansion, located on East Egg.   She lives there with her husband Tom Buchannan.   The house is spacious, much like the Buchanna's marriage, but it has nice furniture and antiques so that it appears to be comfortable and quaint, and one would assume that a happy family lived it.   Tom and Daisy, like the house, aren't really happy, or in love, but they have all the right properties and conveniences to cover the real situation up.   Daisy didn't really want to marry Tom, and she new that at her wedding.   Now, her marriage is falling apart, especially because Tom is having an affair and Daisy knows it.   Neither of them really care about their child, and Daisy is completely s uperficial.   She always acts bored with life and like everything is a pain, she seems to do everything for show.      Ã‚  Ã‚   Directly across the water from Daisy is locater Gatsby's huge and ostentatious house.   Gatsby purposefully picked this spot because he centers his life around Daisy.   Everything he does is in an effort to impress her, get closer to her, or attract her attention.   He is very much in love with her and has been for a long time.   He'd do anything for her, but he doesn't really care about anyone else.   He just uses Nick as a tool to get to Daisy, and is kind of condescending with him.   He always calls him 'old sportà ¢Ã‹â€ .   From his house Gatsby can watch the green light on Daisy's dock.   He holds extravagant parties at his huge mansion, only hoping that Daisy might drop by.   He buys only the best of everything because he knows that's what Daisy

Movie Analysis: Girl, Interrupted. Brittany Clontz Nursing 114 Girl interrupted is a gripping tale of a girl’s maladaptation to the challenges of life. The movie focuses on a young girl named Suzanna Kaysen growing up in the 1960s and struggling with the world around her. Suzanna is admitted to Clarmoore institution after she consumes a whole bottle of aspirin and alcohol to deal with her pain. When admitted to Clarmoore she claims she was not trying to commit suicide, but that she just had a headache. She is overwhelmed and apprehensive as she enters the institution and observes the people around her .Suzanna is quickly introduced to many patients, including her roommate, a pathological liar named Georgina. Polly, a woman who burned herself as a child in attempts to remove the rash she was receiving from her dog so she would not have to part with him. Down the hall from Suzanna is Daisy, a girl suffering from various mental illnesses stemming from her over intimate relationsh ip with her father. The most whirlwind introduction is the arrival of Lisa, a sociopath returning from her most recent escape from the hospital.Suzanna is immediately intimidated by Lisa and her sociopathic ways. It is Suzanna first mediated apt with her very self-indulgent parents that her diagnosis is revealed. Suzanna is taking aback by the doctors words, borderline personality disorder. Suzanna exhibits her defiance and affirms the doctor’s diagnosis by becoming a side kick to Lisa’s maniac ways. Suzanna becomes an accomplice to Drugging a nurse to steal music supplies to cheer up Polly, breaking into the doctor’s office to view her medical records, and being noncompliant with her medications.Following Lisa’s return from her most recent treatment for a maniac episode Suzanna reveals her true dependence on Lisa by following Lisa in her escape from the institution. Lisa has planned for them to stop by the new house Daisy’s dad bought her when she got released, then head to Florida to work at the new Disney world. When they arrive at Daisy’s, Lisa further reveals her manipulative disorder by pushing daisy about her dad, how she is not recovered and pulling up Daisy’s sleeve revealing the cut marks along her forearms.The next morning Suzanna goes upstairs to find Lisa’s twisted words had pushed daisy over the edge and she hung herself. Suzanna is devastated at the sight and the fact that list doesn’t seem supposed. She finally realizes she has been under Lisa’s spell and she will never recover this way. So while Lisa runs, Suzanna lets the doctor take her back to the intuition and focuses on her recovery. Suzanna’s return marks a change in the movie and she makes great strides towards recovering.. The day before her release, the one women who could tear it all down returns.At the sound of commotion Suzanna looks out the window to see Lisa being brought in by an officer. That night Lis a steals Suzanna journal and reads aloud all her private thoughts, including remarks about the other patients Suzanna had befriended. When Suzanna hears her reading her private thoughts it seems Lisa may get her wish and tear all Suzanna progress apart. But in a twist so revealing of her recovery, Suzanna stands up to Lisa and tells her she is the one who needs help and she is dead inside.It is this action of wanting to be out in the real world and standing up to this women who she has let control her that shows the strides she has made. Suzanna’s final departure is not a bitter one, it seems she has made a difference in every patient there and is ready to begin her new life, with her new diagnosis, borderline personality disorder, recovered. In my opinion this movie uses the main character, Suzanna, to illustrate the various ways a mental illness may present.Suzanna’s chart states â€Å" Psychoneurotic Depressive reaction, highly intelligent, but in denial of her con dition and person pattern disturbance ,resistant, sixed type, r/o undifferential schizophrenia. Diagnosis: Borderline Personality Disorder. † This diagnosis seems quite confusing if you don’t know the characteristics of a person with borderline personality disorder. Because in all honesty at first it just seems Suzanna is a young girl, growing up in a rough era and just struggling to cope. But this struggle to cope and maladaptation to the stressors in her life are the triggers to her illness and her attempt at suicide .According to Townsend Borderline Personality disorder is described as â€Å" A pattern of intense and chaotic relationships, with affective instability and fluctuating attitudes toward other people. These individuals are impulsive, are directly and indirectly self-destructive, and lack a clear sense of identity. † (Townsend, 2011, Pg. 569) This is a broad definition but even at first glance I can pick out some of the behaviors Suzanna exhibited in this movie. Suzanna exhibited intense relationships with men, and she developed a very intense and beyond chaotic with the other patient on the ward, Lisa.She exhibited constant acts of impulse and instead of coming up with these acts on her own, they were often thought out by Lisa and Suzanna just followed. This consistent following of Lisa and lack of personal decision making clearly revealed Suzanna’s devoid sense of a clear identity. According to the DSM IV a person suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder exhibits five or more of the following nine criterions. 1) Frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment. 2) A pattern of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships characterized by alternating between extremes of idealization and devaluation. ) Identity disturbance: markedly and persistently unstable self-image or sense of self. 4) Impulsivity in at least two areas that are potentially self-damaging (e. g. , spending, sex, substance abuse, reckless driving, binge eating). 5) Recurrent suicidal behavior, gestures, or threats, or self-mutilating behavior***. 6) Affective [mood] instability. 7) Chronic feelings of emptiness. 8) Inappropriate, intense anger or difficulty controlling anger (e. g. , frequent displays of temper, constant anger, recurrent physical fights). 9) Transient, stress-related paranoid ideation or severe dissociative symptoms. (NAMI)Suzanna exhibits many of these symptoms throughout the film. A few very evident symptoms are her uncertainty about her identity that leads to her dependence on others and her impulsivity and self-damaging behaviors. On admission she seems to have a clear understanding of what’s right and wrong but is in denial of why she is there, yet by the middle of the movie she is throwing her beliefs and values to the wind and participating in Lisa’s schemes. She becomes very codependent on Lisa and when Lisa is transferred to another ward after the drug a nurse and steal music equipment, Suzanna spirals into a different person.Suzanna becomes defiant, refuses to get out of bed and becomes easily angered. Her main thought is where is Lisa and when is she coming back. This demonstrates her lack of her own identity, without Lisa she is back to being confused about her life. Suzanna not only shows impulsivity with her actions with lisa, she shows impulsive sexual tendencies as well. Before her admission she was having sex with a married man who was a friend of her family. She also has a relationship with a man named toby who she met at a party after high school.When toby surprises her at the institution her first actions toward him are sexual advances. He takes her outside and says he is going to Canada to avoid the draft and that she is going with him. She tells him she is not living and admits to trying to kill herself. That evening she starts kissing a male orderly she knows is very fond of her. Her sexual tendencies are clearly self-destructive and they s how how every relationship is completely lacking emotion. Suzanna’s diagnosis of Borderline Personality disorder has no certain cause but several risk factors have been identified.Genetic, family and social factors all play a role in the development of Borderline Personality Disorder. Suzanna’s mother clearly has some mental issues of her own although a diagnosis is not ultimately stated in the movie. Borderline personality disorder is also more common in women than men. Suzanna’s parent also show little regard for her condition and seemed to be more concerned about keeping up appearances. All these factors and the little to no communication with her family can account for factors that may have contributed to the development of her mental illnesses.Borderline Personality disorder is diagnosed through a psychological evaluation and assessment of risk factors. In the movie Suzanna’s doctor is fairly quick to give her the diagnosis of Borderline Personality disorder after very few visits with her. Although throughout the movie Suzanna’s actions give evidence to her diagnosis. Common treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder consists of medication therapy to stabilize mood, decrease impulsivity and help the patient develop a more logical way of thinking.Psychotherapy is used in combination with these medications and patients usually participate in therapy sessions several times a week. Suzanna’s treatment plan was not quite evident until the end of the movie when she finally opened herself up to the possibility of recovery. Although the medication names were not stated she received medication therapy along with therapy sessions with the Dr. Wick two to three times a week. Suzanna also used expressive therapy during her treatment. She wrote down her thoughts in a journal in order to clear her head and participated in expressive art.One aspect that contributed to her recovery that is not presented is how the other patien ts affected her. Lisa’s actions were the most influential on her in the beginning but in the end she develops the ability to stand up to Lisa. Daisy’s suicide also played a big factor in her recovery, she realized you can’t want to die, but once Death is staring you in the face your perception of the world changes a little bit. Girl Interrupted is an eye opener to several regarding several different mental illnesses. By the end of this movie the stigma of mental illness and an institution is gone and replaced by an accepting attitude.The main character Suzanna paints a picture of the various ways mental illness may present itself, but also that management and recovery of mental illness is attainable. In the beginning they all came to escape from something in Europe, and while there were many various reasons for leaving, most were fleeing from religious persecution. The other main attraction was economic prosperity in a new world rich with resources, to either be sent back to Europe, or to simply use here and make a new life for themselves, better than that which they had back home. The English colonies of the Chesapeake nd New England were similar in terms of who founded them ( English settlers), but the similarities pretty much stopped there when it came to reasons for settling, and once they had established themselves how their economies and societies were set up. They differed greatly in economic structure, religious beliefs, societal structure, and also population make-up. The two regions were very close, but in the end became two completely different regions with unique identities. The New England area was originally settled by people seeking religious freedom in the new world. They were primarily Puritan Separatists. They decided to come to the new world after the Church of England separated from Catholicism in a decision made by King Henry VIII. Although the Church of England and Catholicism were no longer intertwined, they still felt they did not have the entire amount of religious freedom they desired. They decided that the best course of action would be to head to the new world so they could start a society in which they could practice their religious beliefs freely and without persecution. They were also Joined by some quakers and catholics who had not Joined the church of England, who also wanted reedom to practice their religious beliefs how they saw fit. Although they came to the new world to start a society based on living a religious life,having religious freedom, and being a tolerant society, in reality they ended up being very pompous in their beliefs as being holier than thou towards the other colonies. This is because their entire societal structure was based on religion, and living as virtuous a life as possible. The Chesapeake region could not possibly be any more opposite of the New England region when it comes to their religious beliefs and practices. The Chesapeake region was founded primarily for economic gain, and therefore religion was not the cornerstone on which it was founded, as was the case with the New England region. The primary church in the Chesapeake region was the Anglican church. Religious participation and emphasis was very low in the Chesapeake region. Due to this their society was not structured around religion as was the New England region, instead it was structured around economic prosperity. The New England regions societal structure was completely based on religion due their being founded on the basis of religious freedom. This meant that everyone in the region was very faith oriented, and conducted themselves as so. The population in the New England region was almost completely white Europeans. There was very little to no commercial agricultural operations in this region as they came with the intent of religious freedom and not economic enterprise. Due to this they relied primarily on subsistence farming to provide for their wants and needs. The only real commercial ventures in the area at the time were ship building and woodworking. This led to their being a large amount of urban development in the area at the time ue to the need to house all of the people who lived in the region. They could afford the land to house as many people as they wanted since they did not need the land to use for farming and other agricultural endeavors as they were not concerned with making a profit off of them. In a very stark contrast to the societal and economic makeup to the New England area, the Chesapeake area was once again a polar opposite in almost every aspect mentioned above. The Chesapeake area was not founded on pursuit of religious freedom, but instead in the pursuit of economic prosperity. As such there society was completely structured around economic ventures and financial gain, primarily through the agricultural industry. The main cash crop for the area during this time period was Tobacco. Since they were focused entirely on agricultural enterprises and making as much profit as possible, their population makeup was very different as well from the New England areas population. They Chesapeake region was absolutely chock full of slaves. All of these slaves were needed in the area to work the agricultural fields at a low cost, or simply the nitial cost of the slave. Implementing slaves into the equation meant that all of the owners of these agricultural enterprises were able to maximize their profit, and therefore become very wealthy, which was the original idea behind founding their region from the onset. Due to this practice the regions population was primarily made up of slaves. It required a lot of slaves to work the immense amount of agricultural areas that were found throughout the region, and so they brought as many slaves over from Africa as they could. As a result of the area being founded olely for the purpose of agricultural enterprising and economic profit, there was very little actual urban development. Although the regions eventually Joined in the formal formation of the American colonies, they were completely different regions from the onset, and during their time. The Chesapeake region being founded completely for economic gains, while the New England region was founded entirely for the pursuit of religious freedoms. The societal structure of the Chesapeake area was completely founded and based upon economics, while the societal structure of the New England Area was almost ompletely faith based. The population structure in the Chesapeake area was almost entirely land owners and their slaves, while the New England area was simply comprised of white Europeans. There was no real heavy economy in the New England area at the time aside from ship building and wood-working since they were entirely focused on their faith, and in contrast the Chesapeake was completely focused on and centered around their agricultural economy. In the end although they were different, they came together and formed the beginnings of what is now our nation as we know it today.

The federalists strongly supported the constitution and its formation of the central government because the formerly relied confederation articles were ineffective, and a strong national government would be able to control uncooperative states and excess powers of foreign policies that affected the U.S., and protect the right of its people who had delegated their powers back to the government. The anti-federalists had raised several objections over the approval of the constitution by the states and their population with respect to the envisioned ramifications, arguing that it would burden Americans in their future. Earlier on, the anti-federalist warned that State power would be threatened by a strong national government, where the centre of gravity would shift to the national government (â€Å"Antifederalists† gps.edu). Although power sharing be tween the national and States’ government was supported by both, the risk of giving too much power as supremacy to the national government at the expense of the States would be high. Considering the challenges facing the new republic, federal opposition â€Å"insisted that the freedom won by the Revolution would be best preserved not by expanding the power of the national government but by tightly circumscribing its power† (Mooney 51).... The anti-federalists objections pushed federalists to include a bill of rights to guarantee civil liberties to the people. The aim of the opposition on the bill of rights was to limit the powers of the central government to prevent intrusion into the state powers. To both of the parties’ achievements, the bill was later adopted and the few states which were reluctant to ratify the constitution became convinced. First of all, the 10th amendment of the constitution only clarified the existing enumeration powers of the federal government, but refused to adjust its powers to make a change. As a result, the States felt obliged to support the constitution, due to the assurance of the tenth amendment, which confirmed that powers not delegated to the central government would reside with the respective States (Mooney 58). In other words, it was a meander to achieve support of the states by limiting the federal government the right to interfere with individuals and not the state. Nothin g was new because individuals were already protected by the bill of rights in the respective States constitutions; the only change was its further inclusion in the national constitution, yet the federal powers over war, taxes, commerce, and implied powers were not restricted by the amendment (Dry 5). Today everyone realizes and sympathizes with the anti- federalist opposition for their fear of constitution to leave out the bill of rights that turned out to be very essential. Even with the 1st enactment of the bill of rights, suppressive scenarios like the approval of the Alien and Sedition Acts that threatened foreigners’ liberty, and seriously limited freedom of speech and especially of the press affirmed anti-federalist argument. The inclusion of the bill of
